GORAKHPUR: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday emphasised that exemplary technology and human behaviour are essential for any healthcare institution to be effective and successful.
“The technology must be up to date and able to anticipate future advancements. In addition, the entire medical team must demonstrate good sensitivity,” he said.
Yogi made these remarks while addressing a gathering after inaugurating the fourth state-of-the-art radiotherapy machine (Varian Halcyon) at Hanuman Prasad Podar Cancer Hospital and Research Institute, Geeta Vatika on Friday evening.
“If individuals and organisations fail to adapt to the changing times, they will be left behind. Therefore, staying ahead of the curve is crucial to promote healthy competition in our sector,” he said.
CM Yogi also pointed out that medical institutions need to stay in touch with ongoing research in the medical and health sector to stay ahead of the curve.
The Chief Minister pointed out that people’s ability to pay for healthcare has increased and many facilities are now available at the government level. “A large number of people in the state have benefited from schemes like Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana, Mukhya Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana and Chief Minister’s Relief Fund. As a result, there is an increased demand for quality facilities,” the Chief Minister said.
Yogi also stressed that cutting-edge technology and compassionate human behavior are very important for medical institutions. Doctors, paramedical staff, nurses and all related personnel need to empathize with patients, treat their pain as their own and serve them with dedication. “Furthermore, medical institutions need to keep up with technological advancements,” he said.
The CM emphasised that it is even more important for the University to stay ahead of the curve in treating diseases such as cancer, and stressed the importance of continuous efforts to ensure that the public can benefit from cutting edge research.
Yogi praised the Hanuman Prasad Podar Cancer Hospital for its commitment to remaining at the forefront of technological advancements and said, “Since 2013, the hospital has consistently adopted new technologies and has progressively acquired four state-of-the-art machines to provide excellent treatment facilities.”
He said the hospital is fast replacing old technology with new. Chief Minister Yogi highlighted that Hanuman Prasad Podar Cancer Hospital, which has an established reputation for excellence in health and medicine, will be celebrating its 50th anniversary next year. He assured that the government is ready to fully support the hospital in all its important endeavours.
Yogi also said that in the past, a cancer diagnosis brought great grief to the entire family and was often detected at an advanced stage. “Today, people have better access to healthcare and can receive better treatment with support from schemes like Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana, Mukhyamantri Jan Arogya Yojana and the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund,” he said.
“The government is fully supporting the healthcare needs of its people and it is important to create awareness in the society about these benefits,” Yogi added.
The Prime Minister also encouraged other charities to contribute to healthcare and education, and by working together with the Government, these organisations can provide the best possible facilities.
On the occasion, the Yogi paid tribute to Hanuman Prasad Poddar “Bhai Ji” and his devoted associate Radha Baba while lauding their lifelong dedication to public welfare. He emphasised that both Bhai Ji and Radha Baba considered service to humanity as service to God and stressed that true service is to help the poor and distressed.
At the inauguration ceremony of the state-of-the-art cancer radiotherapy unit, Dr HR Mali, medical director of the cancer hospital, and Vishnu Prasad Ajit Sarrija, trustee of Hanuman Prasad Podar Memorial Committee, welcomed the Chief Minister with floral tributes.
