Hana Financial Group said on Monday it will launch the third installment of its “Hana Digital Power On” project, which aims to nurture young digital talent to drive financial innovation in the country.
The project is organized by Hana Financial Group and sponsored by the Financial Supervisory Service (FSS), Google, Amazon Web Services, Microsoft and SK Telecom.
“The Digital Power On project over the past two years has proven that when young people’s great ideas are combined with an excellent educational environment, they can achieve results that surpass those of previous generations,” Financial Supervisory Service Chairman Lee Bok-hyun said at the launch ceremony held at Hana Financial Group’s headquarters in Seoul.
“I hope that Hana Financial Group’s investment in young people will continue to lead to the development of excellent digital financial talent,” he added.
“The competitiveness of digital finance is determined by digital talent, and the life or death of a company depends on developing such talent,” said Hana Financial Group Chairman Ham Young-ju.
“We promise to do our best to help the participants of this project grow into future digital talents. We hope that they will grow through this project and meet us again as colleagues who will decide the future of Hana Financial Group.”
Following the launch ceremony, a digital new technology competition was held, in which the final project participants were selected from 20 teams. The participants proposed innovative ideas for integrating finance and digital technologies, utilizing new digital technologies such as AI, blockchain, cloud, and data.
The final participating teams selected through the contest will undergo intensive training to gain specialized knowledge and experience, and will also participate in a hackathon competition with SK Telecom to solidify their ideas and develop prototypes.
Students who achieve excellent results will be awarded a total of 30 million won in prize money and a special study trip to the UK, the center of the global financial market, to visit global IT and fintech companies. Students who wish to work for the Hana Financial Group in the future will also be given preferential treatment.
