Katy Perry has released a teaser for the music video for her new single “Woman’s World,” but fans are divided on whether it’s enough for her to make a successful comeback.
Perry became a massive pop star in the late 2000s thanks to hits like “I Kissed a Girl,” “Hot n Cold” and “Teenage Dream,” but her career stalled in the second half of the 2010s as her new songs struggled to gain traction.
Ahead of her yet-to-be-released seventh album, Perry is hoping to captivate audiences again with her new look and a snippet of her first single, “Woman’s World.”
However, fans were quick to mock the first excerpt released last month, saying the lyrics were “outdated” and sounded as if they had been written by an AI, but Perry persevered and released further excerpts which were more well-received.
Perry on Tuesday released a teaser for the single’s music video, which drops Thursday, showing Perry and a group of dancers performing on a construction site with what appear to be drills, hammers and vibrators.
Some fans were pleased with the video, calling it the start of Perry’s comeback.

Others were quick to compare the video to her video for the single “California Girls” from her 2010 album, Teenage Dream.
“Woman’s World” feels like a return to the fun, raunchy music videos and live performances of “Teenage Dream” era that helped propel her to fame in the 2000s and early 2010s.
However, some users of X have criticised the teaser, saying it’s an attempt by Perry to cash in on nostalgia for her glory days in an attempt to resurrect her career.

Either way, Perry seems confident that “Woman’s World” will be her next big win.
Perry announced on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” in February that she was leaving her job as a judge on “American Idol” after six years to focus on her music career.
Perry also reteamed with producer and songwriter Dr. Luke, who has worked on eight of Perry’s singles that have reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. Dr. Luke hasn’t worked with Perry since 2013, before her career began to decline.
After Kesha filed a lawsuit against Perry alleging sexual, physical and emotional abuse, some fans criticized Perry for working with Dr. Luke again. Dr. Luke denied the claims, and the two reached an undisclosed settlement in June 2023.
Perry has yet to comment on the backlash, and her representatives did not respond to Business Insider’s request for comment.
Only time will tell if “Woman’s World” can fend off the criticism and put Perry back on top.
