In the heart of the 806, where grit meets soul, Mike City 806 is crafting more than just records—he’s building a legacy. As the founder of Mike City Records, Mike is on a mission to turn his passion into generational wealth, all while putting on for his city.
Known for his signature Southern style and relentless hustle, Mike City is stepping into 2025 with heat, hunger, and a fresh new sound.
Q: Who is Mike City 806 and what’s your mission?
Mike City 806:
I’m the underdog with a championship mindset. I’m here to win—no other option. It’s about getting to the bag and making sure my kids are set for life. The mission is simple: feed the family, tour the globe, and inspire people through music. I’m doing this for the South, for the 806, and for everyone who feels like they gotta prove themselves.
Q: What does the 806 mean to you?
Mike City 806:
It’s home. The 806 is where I learned the value of hard work, loyalty, and staying true to your roots. It’s not just an area code, it’s a movement. That small-town grind with a worldwide mindset. I wear it like a badge.
Q: Your latest track “All In” dropped this week. What’s different about this one?
Mike City 806:
“All In” is a vibe. I stepped away from my usual raw, hard-hitting sound and made something smoother, melodic—something for the spring and summer. It’s got that down-to-earth feel but still carries weight. I wanted to show a different side, something you can cruise to, kick back with, or just throw on repeat. No features, just me. And big shoutout to Steve C for producing it.
Q: What artists influence your sound?
Mike City 806:
I’m built from that old-school cloth—2Pac, early Lil Wayne, old Drake—but also love what guys like Young Dolph, NBA YoungBoy, Key Glock, Big X Tha Plug, and Lil Baby are doing. And Timberland? One of the GOATs in terms of production. My music pulls from all that, but it’s always got that Southern backbone.
Q: What’s next for Mike City Records?
Mike City 806:
2025 is the takeover. New EP in the works, merch about to drop—“Will Work For Success” tees on deck. We’re also launching a podcast, doing interviews, and bringing more content to the fans. I’m about consistency and keeping my foot on the gas.
Q: You mentioned giving back. What’s the bigger purpose behind your grind?
Mike City 806:
I want to inspire people who come from where I come from. I’ve seen what music can do for folks’ spirits, and I’m here to motivate. Whether it’s giving back to the community or just making that one song someone needed to hear today, I’m locked in on impacting lives.
Q: Any last words for the people reading this?
Mike City 806:
Yeah—bet on yourself. Don’t wait for nobody to give you a shot, go get it. I’m living proof that if you stay hungry and focused, you’ll make it happen. Stay tuned, we just getting started. Big 806 forever.
